Mission
A redesign and rethinking of RIT’s Mycourses course content strategy. How can we condense the content from course materials in a way that encourages students’ understanding and promotes participation?
Problem
Many students struggle to understand and retain heavy course content, as the information is presented in a dense and difficult-to-digest format.
This results in students having to spend excessive amounts of time and
effort trying to locate and understand important information, and subsequently, having difficulty remembering it.
Solution
This UX design project aims to solve heavy course content by creating an interface with two-liners from the class, daily slideshow of informational posts with user engagement features, and categorizing long paragraphs with
anchor links to facilitate easy navigation and understanding.
Goal #1: Learn
Quickly read condensed course content on the go
Crucial information is often found in sources such as books, lecture slides, and films, but these mediums can be one-dimensional. Interactive cards, on the other hand, provide students with essential information while also allowing them to save it, ask questions, and participate in discussions. This makes the learning experience more interactive and engaging.
Continue your learning streak
from the source
In education, achieving a thorough understanding of a topic requires dedication and effort. One effective way for students to deepen their understanding is by studying the course materials in-depth, including reading or watching the attachments provided. This allows them to trace the source of the summary and gain a more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
All Course summaries
at one place
—
For students who may have missed reading the latest summaries or wish to review older ones, accessing them is easy. All summaries can be found in one centralized location, organized by course title, making it convenient for students to quickly locate the information they need.
Goal #2: Participate
Have a question?
Ask right away
This feature is designed to help students grasp the information quickly, but also allows them to explore further by encouraging them to ask questions if they are curious. This way, they can gain a more in-depth understanding of the topic at hand.
Participate in
a discussion
A section where students can see all the questions that were posted and will have an opportunity to participate in it.
Goal #3: Expand
Curiosity struck? save it
to your library
Organize and prioritize important information by saving interactive cards to a folder of your choice. Students have the option to save cards to existing folders or create new ones for increased flexibility and convenience.
Personalized for you,
saved by you
To aid in organization and accessibility, students are able to save summaries of their choice in designated course folders or personal folders that they create. This allows for easy retrieval of relevant information, as all saved summaries will be conveniently located within their designated folders.
